How to read laundry care symbols







When cleaning, please check for care instructions and precautions on the washing care tag.

Please see below for the symbols and meanings of the washing instructions.

※The table below is an example of the washing symbols primarily used for GU products. It does not include all symbols.
Home laundry
image The liquid temperature is limited to 104°F/40°C and can be washed in a washing machine.
image The liquid temperature should be limited to 104°F/40°C and the product can be washed gently in a washing machine.
image The liquid temperature should be limited to 104°F/40°C and the product can be washed in a washing machine on a very gentle cycle.
image The water temperature should be limited to 104°F/40°C and can be washed by hand.
image Cannot be washed at home
The more bars at the bottom of the symbol, the weaker the treatment.
bleaching
image Can be bleached using chlorine and oxygen bleach
image You can use oxygen bleach, but not chlorine bleach
image Cannot be bleached
Tumble dry
image Tumble drying possible (maximum exhaust temperature 176°F)
image Tumble drying possible (maximum exhaust temperature 176°F)
image Do not tumble dry
 
Air drying
image Hang dry in the shade.
image Dry flat in the shade.
Iron
image Ironing is possible with a maximum bottom temperature of 410°F.
image Ironing is possible with a maximum bottom temperature of 320°F.
image Ironing can be done without steam, with the bottom temperature limited to 248°F.

Dry cleaning
image Mild dry cleaning using solvents such as perchloroethylene is possible.
Note: Dry cleaning includes tumble drying.

image Wet cleaning is possible with very gentle operation

Examples of additional terms
Please use a cleaning net.
Do not wring.
Use a mild detergent.
Use a cloth to protect your hands.
 
Additional washing information
  • Dissolve the powder detergent thoroughly before adding the laundry.
    (If you add the laundry first and then sprinkle the detergent on top, the detergent may get on the clothes and cause uneven coloring.)
  • Please be aware that if dark colored clothing is left wet, the color may transfer to other laundry.
  • Wash dark colored clothing separately, spin-dry and dry immediately.
  • For items that tend to lose their shape easily, we recommend using a laundry net.
  • For off-white and light-colored products, please avoid using detergents containing fluorescent whitening agents.
